Proclinical is seeking a Senior/Principal Scientist, RNA Computational Chemistry to join a stealth mode Biotech in Cambridge, MA. If you are excited to join a creative, collaborative and highly dynamic platform company dedicated to leveraging emerging insights in RNA biology to develop a novel class of human therapeutics, this could be an exciting role for you. In this role you will influence chemistry design by applying state-of-the-art computational chemistry approaches to ultimately find treatments for patients with unmet medical needs. You will also help to build an integrated data science platform that embraces FAIR data principles.

As an early member of a privately held, well-funded, adaptive RNA platform biotechnology company you will have significant influence on the platform development and drug discovery process along with the ability to grow as the company continues to expand.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conceive and execute computational chemistry strategy in collaboration with the leadership team
  • Work collaboratively with a cross-functional biology, technology, and chemistry team to extend and automate the computational chemistry platform for rapid drug discovery
  • Build predictive models including QSAR and ML to drive efficiency and inform drug molecule design
  • Develop tools that support medicinal scientists in the representation and design of RNA drug molecules
  • Create molecular models of RNA and RNA/protein complexes and use these to enable insights into structural and biological properties
  • Create compelling data visualizations for critical internal and investor presentations
  • Develop, build, populate, and maintain platform-related databases and tools to query the information
  • Be a strong and vocal advocate for data quality and operation within FAIR data principles across the company
  • Help to build a world-class computational sciences team

Skills and Requirements:

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in a scientific field coupled with relevant computational chemistry experience,
  • Experience in an industrial setting is desirable
  • Strong programming and statistical analysis skills; proficiency in Python, SQL and R
  • Capable of employing quantum chemistry software to model the interfaces between nucleic acids and proteins
  • Deep understanding of data-driven algorithmic approaches to molecular design (QSAR/ML/AI)
  • Expertise in the use of molecular visualization systems (such as Chimera, PyMol, MOE) and databases
  • Skilled in clear and concise written communication
  • Adept in creating and giving effective and stimulating presentations
  • Ability to present concepts and data to varied audiences that help drive decision-making
  • Excellent organizational skills, effective project leader
