Proclinical is seeking a Screening and Assay Development Lead for a cutting-edge biotechnology company located in South San Francisco, CA.

As the Screening and Assay Development Lead, you will spearhead efforts to develop, optimize, establish, and execute biochemical/molecular assays for screening small molecule modulators of RNA targets.

Must be eligible to work in the US.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, qualify, and validate novel and standard assays in-house. Ensure reproducibility and consistency of screening results and methods.
  • Provide scientific leadership and in-depth knowledge for biochemical, molecular, and cell-based assays, and interpretation of results.
  • Independently, proactively, and effectively troubleshoot assay-related issues.
  • Hire and mentor new members of the team.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years of experience in the industry or PhD in the life sciences and minimum of 10 years of experience in the industry.
  • Extensive experience in developing and establishing novel and off-the-shelf biochemical, molecular, and cellular assays (cell lines, primary cells, viability/cytotoxicity, ELISA, Western, qPCR, MSD, microscopy, flow cytometry, etc.).
  • Proficiency in designing, cloning, and working with plasmid- or mRNA-based reporter systems
  • Hands-on familiarity with small molecule library screening, including lab automation for medium- and high-throughput formats (96- and 384-well plates).
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple nucleic acid delivery system platforms (electroporation, transfection, viral and non-viral delivery systems).
  • Substantial experience in managing and mentoring teams.
  • Ability to plan and execute in a fast-paced environment and agility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills, ability to clearly communicate technical information to colleagues.
  • Experience screening small molecule modulators of RNA targets.
  • Deep understanding of mechanisms and pathways regulating mRNA processing in mammalian cells.
  • Experience managing and working with CROs to increase screening throughput and deliver results efficiently and cost-effectively.
