Proclinical are recruiting a Scientist in Neuroimmunology for a biotech corporation. This role is on a contract basis. This client is focused on supplying life-changing treatments for major illnesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, develop, and instrument new cell functional assays using human iPSC-derived/primary microglia as well as rodent microglia to test and compare efficacy of small molecules.
  • Leverage a combination of biochemical approaches to investigate cellular pharmacology.
  • Develop, implement, and study ex vivo slice assays and in vivo models to measure the target biology and test compounds.
  • You will establish SOPs, acclimate new protocols from literature and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Develop, apply, and examine transcriptomic and proteomic readouts from cells and pre-clinical models to characterise small molecule compounds.
  • Operate efficiently with internal collaborators across the company to advance the project.
  • Exhibit data to the project team and at section and departmental meetings.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Attained a MSc or PhD in (neuro)-immunology, cell/molecular biology or biochemistry.
  • Proficiency functioning with primary rodent glial cultures, as well as iPSC derived model systems.
  • Skilled in developing strong and reproducible cell functional assays.
  • Wide-ranging applied experience with several gene expression, immunoassay, and molecular profiling methods applied to cells and brain tissues (human and rodents).
  • Capable of independently designing, implementing, and assessing experiments.
  • Qualification for performing in vivo animal experiments (eg. LTK1) is necessitated. Know-how in in vivo animal dosing, perfusion, tissue collection and preparation for biochemical and immunoassays is an advantage for this role, however, it is not vital.
  • Exceptional computer-based data management and record-keeping skills; experience with basic biostatistical data analysis is a benefit, but not essential to the role.
  • Brilliant communication skills to report your results to the team; fluent in writing and speaking in the English language is crucial to the role.
  • Must enjoy a self-governing operating style and troubleshooting in a multi-departmental and international pharma research atmosphere.
  • Preceding experience in drug discovery R&D in neuroscience is an advantage, but not critical to the role.
  • Former experience in cellular pharmacology is a benefit, but not essential to the role.
