Formulation Scientist - Permanent - Onsite

Proclinical Staffing is seeking a Formulation Scientist to join a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company. This is a permanent role located in Newark, CA.

Primary Responsibilities

We are seeking to hire a Staff Scientist for the formulation group to assist with preclinical studies for discovery projects and formulation development for clinical phases as required.

Skills & Requirements:

• Background in pharmacology, chemistry, chemical engineering, material sciences, or related fields. A BA with 8 years of experience, a Master's with 5 years of experience, or a PhD with 2 years of experience in R&D, pre-clinical pharmaceutical oral or parenteral formulation design, preparation, and characterization.
• Proficiency in general formulation characterization like solubility measurement, pH testing, viscosity assessment, and particle size analysis. Familiarity with using and maintaining lab instruments such as analytical balance, pH meter, centrifuge, mixers, lyophilizer, and microscope.
• Preferred experience in oral solid and liquid dosage form manufacturing and characterization (granulation, tableting, coating, hardness and friability measurement, dissolution, and disintegration tests). Knowledge of analytical methods and HPLC is advantageous.

The Formulation Scientist will:

• Collaborating with different discovery teams within the company (DMPK, vivarium, chemistry, biology, etc.)
• Planning, creating, and carrying out protocols for formulation experiments. (Experiments include the preparation and characterization of peptide or small molecule oral and parenteral dosage forms for preclinical studies.)
• Recording all experiment processes and outcomes according to GLP standards in lab notebooks
• Arranging and presenting scientific data to diverse audiences
• Managing and updating preclinical study plans, formulations, and outcomes in shared electronic databases
• Maintaining the formulation calendar
• Handling lab duties such as preparing buffers and vehicles for general lab use, managing laboratory excipient inventory and supplies, and liaising with equipment service and sales representatives for equipment needs and maintenance.
