Proclinical is seeking an Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Assistant to support compliance with EHS regulations and internal standards across Research & Development sites on a part-time basis. In this role, you will contribute to the UK Health and Safety programs, initiatives, and systems, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), including reviewing risk assessments and method statements, issuing permits, and communicating with relevant personnel.
- Conduct performance checks to ensure contractor work aligns with approved risk assessments, halting unsafe practices when necessary.
- Manage and coordinate statutory inspection schedules and follow-up actions.
- Support audit preparation, conduct workplace inspections, and ensure timely follow-up on corrective actions.
- Assist in managing Declaration of Conformity documentation for equipment compliance.
- Support the completion and review of risk assessments, implementing safety measures with stakeholders.
- Participate in change control processes to assess and mitigate EHS risks associated with new processes, equipment, or materials.
- Conduct initial reviews and investigations of EHS incidents, near misses, and good saves, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective action plans are documented.
- Respond to EHS-related communications and compile promotional materials for EHS programs.
- Generate and review procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and performance reporting.
Key Skills and Requirements:
- Knowledge of UK EHS regulations and best practices.
- Understanding of risk assessment, incident investigation, auditing, and safe systems of work.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related tools (Teams, Outlook).
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
- Practical experience in health and safety roles, with involvement in EHS improvement initiatives.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is advantageous.
