Proclinical is seeking a Director of Commercial Operations, Chief of Staff - Rare Disease to work with a leading biopharmaceutical company located in Boston, MA. This individual will serve as the Business Operations Lead for the Rare Business Unit and will be a key point of contact for Sales & Marketing Leadership and the Field Salesforce.
Must be eligible to work or be a citizen in the US.
Job Responsibility:
- In partnership with the BU Leadership team, create and execute strategic projects that will position the BU successfully in a rapidly evolving landscape.
- Develop and implement business processes and controls to maximize commercial resources and profitability.
- Take active leadership role in the cross functional business planning/review process.
- Collaborate cross functionally with Marketing, Value & Access, Operations, Training & Sales teams on brand promotional development, execution, and performance.
- Partners with Rare BU Sr. Leadership to develop annual priorities and goals in alignment with BU/corporate objectives, as well as create robust communications, metrics, and tracking.
- Coordinates and aligns organizational planning and implementation activities (brand planning, business planning and financial planning) across the BU by liaising key stakeholders to create and maintain an integrated planning calendar and process for the BU that aligns with corporate planning cycles and timelines.
- Ensures clarity of communications and understanding across all BU functions with respect to deliverables and timelines for agreed upon strategic initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners to transition and embed projects and responsibilities within the business once complete.
- Develops and maintains strong working relationships with all key stakeholders internal and external, BU and otherwise.
- Develop and monitor leading and lagging KPI trackers to oversee the performance of portfolio and BU.
- VP Rare Disease Franchise Head and Regional Business Directors to provide support with sales force execution and other business needs.
- Marketing team on branded and unbranded promotional development, congress planning, execution, and performance.
- Bridge between the BU and the Business Operations team partnering with Commercial Information Management and Enablement and Commercial Excellence (IC, Segmentation & Targeting, Training)
- Partner with Brand Leadership to develop template for Finance Business Reviews.
- Sales & Marketing data and analytics, performance reports and budget management.
- Under direction of BU lead and Brand Lead, serve as the BU lead for all aspects of POA meeting planning and execution. Includes Leaders Meetings, National Meeting.
- Collaborate with Operations team to manage incentive compensation plans for the sales force.
- Deliver on Call Planning & Alignment Operations of Account Planning.
- Manage Rare specific field communications.
- Drive development of strategic resources to meet Business Unit goals.
- Assess training needs and collaborate with training on the creation and execution of new resources and development programs.
- Support business and process related inquiries for both brand and sales operations
- Responsible for helping to create, implement and monitor sales infrastructure to enhance and support sales force operations including sales reporting, analytics, forecasting and sales force automation.
Skills and Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to comfortably dive into any area of the business, understand business needs, and facilitate executive decisions based on changing priorities for the BU/organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to lead multiple internal cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to work well with leadership and cross functional partners and ability to lead and influence across multiple levels and functions of the organization without having direct authority.
- Demonstrated consistent track record of success and delivering strong results.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; excellent presentation skills to groups of diverse size and make up.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of biopharma government and compliance regulations enabling individual to work with limited risk within an environment of strict compliance and appropriate regulatory guidelines to successfully design and execute tactics, programs and tools that achieve business objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent is required; MBA preferred.
- Management or Strategy Consultancy experience - ideally 3+ years within a Life Sciences or Pharma/Biotech practice
- Minimum 5-8 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience having a broad knowledge of Sales/ Marketing/ Finance is preferred.
- Successful launch experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to influence others.
- Ability to work with multiple internal cross-functional teams and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated consistent track record of success in project management and producing results as a team and/or individual contributor.
- Complex science and reimbursement experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the AMA, ACCME, PhRMA and FDA regulations associated with promotion and industry-supported scientific education activities.
- Working within an environment of strict compliance to all appropriate regulatory guidelines to successfully design and execute tactics, programs and tools that achieve business objectives.
- Willingness/ability to travel domestically; International travel may be required.
- Robust analytical background with the ability to "quarterback" and create executive summaries for quick turnaround from complex sets of information.
- Ability to successfully excel and produce in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Hands on role.
- Experience with Field Incentive and rewards; Specialty Rare Disease data analytics.
- Translate Market data into potential business opportunities.
- Ideally located in the Greater Boston/Cambridge, MA area.
