An opportunity has opened for a Clinical Research/ Development Scientist (Associate Director/ Director level) to join a fast-growing oncology Biotech in the UK. With recent funding, you'll be joining this company at an exciting time of growth as they develop immunotherapies to have a direct impact with treating cancer patients and they're looking for a credible individual to drive the development of this. This role will suit a well-seasoned oncology expert who is looking to develop a strong study pipeline whilst working in a varied position.

This is a home-based role based role with the chance to grow organically within the team whilst reporting to the VP, Clinical Development. An attractive financial package is on offer + bonus + share options.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Integrated Development Plan through to clinical. This includes assessment of medical need, proposal of clinical development pathways, and review of preclinical data for clinical implications, and other relevant activities
  • Supporting the development of scientifically robust, innovative clinical development plans with well-defined decision points and clear line of sight to the clinic;
  • Support the development and management of external partnerships/collaborations with academic institutions and aligning these to programme level scientific and clinical strategy;
  • Support the preparation of clinical study synopses and protocols;
  • Collaborating with clinical operations to align on operational feasibility of CDPs and suggest clinical trial sites capable of delivering the translational objectives of a proposed study;
  • Collaborating with other key departments such as clinical pharmacology, competitive intelligence to support the clinical development team strategy;
  • In conjunction with the Clinical and Project Leads, participates in analysis of study results and presentation of conclusions to relevant decision boards;
  • Utilise disease biology understanding in order to prioritise indication selection for the portfolio of agents.

Requirements:

This role requires the background of an experienced oncology or immuno-oncology Individual.

  • MSc or PhD qualified, with demonstrated scientific productivity (publications, abstracts, etc.), a strong interest and aptitude for translational medicine and early-stage clinical development in immunology, oncology or immuno-oncology (highly desirable);
  • Significant experience in industry and/or a biotech environment, with involvement in or exposure to early phase clinical development programmes;
  • A translational and methodologically innovative mind-set, with the ability and aptitude to provide scientific and clinical support to early clinical development programmes (pre-FIH stage through to POC);
  • Good understanding of relevant disciplines such as biostatistics, regulatory, clinical pharmacology, pre-clinical toxicology, pharmacogenomics and biomarker-based approaches.
