Proclinical is seeking a remote Associate Director, Quantitative Science (Data Science/Statistics) for a cutting-edge pharmaceutical company.
As the Associate Director of Quantitative Science (Research & Other Areas), you will step into the role of a Statistician/Data Scientist and play a pivotal part in supporting various functional areas within the realm of drug research, development, and manufacturing. This influential and self-reliant position will yield substantial contributions to drug discovery, preclinical studies, the identification and advancement of biomarkers, and nonclinical research.
Must be eligible to work in the US.
Job Responsibilities:
- Leading statistical support for experimental design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting across research, biomarker development, manufacturing, and other spheres.
- Determining sample sizes and contributing to study design through simulation exercises.
- Developing analytical methods and software programs.
- Crafting and reviewing statistical analysis reports.
- Creating statistical algorithms and specifications for applications enabling researchers to analyze repetitive experiments.
- Initiating outreach to internal functions to cultivate collaborations and identify opportunities for applying statistics and data science to drive business impact and problem-solving.
- Exploring and advancing the use of AI and ML for addressing business challenges.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
Skills and Requirements:
- A Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field is required.
- A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Profound subject matter expertise in the application of statistics and problem-solving within related domains.
- Proficiency in statistics, advanced data science methodologies, practical application, and programming capabilities.
- A track record of crafting fit-for-purpose statistical methodologies and software tools.
- Exceptional matrix team leadership abilities, coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
- For the Associate Director role: A minimum of 5 years of experience (Ph.D.) or 7 years of experience (Master's) in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- For the Senior Manager role: A minimum of 2 years of experience (Ph.D.) or 4 years of experience (Master's) in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Proficiency in the drug discovery process and relevant statistical applications.
- A strong scientific curiosity and the ability to rapidly acquire new knowledge.
- A proven aptitude for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong consultation and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability and the ability to excel in a dynamic, diverse, and matrixed environment.
- Statistics:
- Advanced proficiency in statistical methods for assessing in vitro and in vivo studies, assay development and characterization, biomarker discovery, and digital biomarkers.
- Familiarity with advanced data science techniques, including artificial neural networks (ANN), natural language processing, and image analysis (an advantage).
- Strong programming skills in languages such as SAS, R, Python, and other statistical software packages.
- Tool Development:
- Proficiency in creating specifications and designing analysis modules for automating the analysis, visualization, and reporting of repetitive experiments.
- Supervisory:
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor both internal team members and contract staff.
- Effective skills in reviewing and evaluating documents drafted by staff members.
