Vice Director R&D (Method Development)

Due to the constant growth of our client, an international diagnostics company, we are looking for a Vice Director R&D (Method Development) w/m to be based in North-East Germany.

Job Responsibilties:

• Leadership of the method development department, disciplinary responsibility for scientists and technicians of the team
• Responsibility and ownership of R&D projects within the department as well as in cooperation with other departments
• Establishment of new genetic assays and technologies, especially NGS-based methods ranging from whole exome/ whole genome sequencing to targeted bait panel designs, as well as non-NGS assays (Sanger/ simple PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, arrayCGH)
• Close cooperation as point of conduct regarding technical specifications for Marketing & Sales for launch of new products or competitor analysis
• Assessment of technical and financial feasibility of new methods for the diagnostic workflow, validation & documentation
• Design and implementation of strategies to improve assays and workflows
• Troubleshooting of current methods and procedures

Skills and Requirements:

• PhD in molecular biology or related fields
• Work experience in development & implementation of new NGS-based assays and in validation & documentation is a plus
• Leadership skills including delegating tasks and defining deadlines to a team is a must
• Knowledge in bioinformatic processing of NGS raw data is a plus
• Interested in research and development projects
• Excellent English skills (oral & written), good knowledge of German is a plus
• Ability to work in a team as well as independently
