Proclinical is advertising a vacancy for a Senior Research Associate, Flow Cytometry with a leading pharmaceutical company, that specialises in medical device capabilities and technology platforms. This company is seeking to hire a hard-working and exceptional individual to join their team in Philadelphia on a contract basis.

The Senior Research Associate will design, plan, lead, author, execute, and interpret research & developmental studies; they will also assay qualifications and article validations for flow cytometry assays, and occasionally, cell-based potency assays. Furthermore, the SRA will act as a Technical Reviewer and assay trainer. They will partner with Testing Operations during assay transfer and validation activities, as well as participate in client calls and face to face meetings. They will interface with the Sales team regularly, and author custom quotes as needed. Finally, the SRA will lead and drive technical discussions, both internally and externally.

Job Description:

  • Designing, planning, leading, executing, and interpreting R&D flow cytometry, and cell-based potency, and leading projects.
  • Designing, planning, drafting, and executing QP and VPs, as well other GMP methods.
  • Authoring reports.
  • Drafting client protocols/test methods.
  • Participating in assay transfer to Operations.
  • Training inter and intradepartmental staff.
  • Writing R&D reports and ensuring data is reported clearly and accurately.
  • Reporting observations of ongoing tests to appropriate internal staff and clients, as needed.
  • Excelling in method troubleshooting.
  • Clearly communicating scientific knowledge internally and externally.
  • Serving as a technical reviews and LIMS tech manager.
  • Participating in client calls and face to face meetings as a subject matter expert.
  • Leading and driving technical discussions.
  • Interfacing with Sales team on a regular basis, as well as authoring custom quote sections as needed.
  • Informally overseeing a limited number of junior staff.
  • Ordering reagents and materials as needed.
  • Initiating and tracking change controls.
  • Investigating, responding, and/or approving equipment OOTs.
  • Overseeing REES/ELPRO monitoring and responses.
  • Authoring and executing IQOQ and authoring equipment SOP, as needed.
  • Completing all required training, such as safety and equipment training.
  • Attending scientific conferences when feasible.
  • Performing job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and Company Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

Skills and Requirements:

  • A Master's Degree in Biological Sciences with 10 years of experience; alternatively, a PhD in Biological Sciences with at least 6 years of experience, particularly in flow cytometry.
  • Demonstrable experience with gene therapy vectors and/or gene mediated cell therapy.
  • Specialised training in flow cytometry.
  • Specialised training in cell-based potency assays.
  • Demonstrable experience in a cGMP environment is highly desirable.
  • Capable of accomplishing the described duties through the use of appropriate laboratory equipment (e.g., biohazard hoods and autoclaves), along with computer equipment and software (e.g., MS Office and Outlook).
  • Capable of accurately and reproducibly performing arithmetic calculations, including fractions, decimals, percentages, and basic algebraic and geometric calculations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, persuasion, and collaboration.
  • Fluency in English, and proficiency in Mandarin.
