A leading global pharmaceutical company has a new vacancy for a Senior Project Manager to join their expanding Swiss team on a contract basis.

The Senior Project Manager partners with the Scientific Directors, Training Directors, Global Medical Heads, Medical Directors, External Research and/or Global Publications functions in delivering strategic tactical plans. The Senior Project Manager will be an active participant in the overall strategy and leadership decisions related to assigned projects. This position leads the operations of projects within a program, within multiple programs, across multiple therapeutic areas, or for the benefit of the department. This position will manage various project activities related to the execution of the global medical strategic plan, overseeing the progress of specific projects by identifying critical steps, highlighting dependencies, mitigating risks of project completion and communicating project-related issues to appropriate members of the organization. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget and meet established requirements. The Senior Project Manager actively engages with the Scientific Strategy and Training Team in yearly strategic planning and supports the Global Medical Strategy Team in the development of global medical strategic plans. This position proactively assesses and implements processes and propagates best practices to enhance synergies and efficiencies across the department.

Job Responsibilties:

  • Collaborate with the Scientific, Training, Publication, or GMA Research Directors in delivering and setting yearly project strategy, goals, priorities and plans.
  • Create and manage timelines for the development of relevant Scientific Strategy and Training deliverables; track budgets for these deliverables and associated activities; report on the status of deliverables and budget on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to identify and mitigate risk to achieve project success
  • Identifies, creates and propagates project management best practices across the department
  • Understands and examines processes with the ability to anticipate issues improving efficiencies across the department and project management agility
  • Manage projects and utilize tracking tools to identify potential resource/timing issues; propose solutions in a timely manner.
  • Provide oversight, direction and management of service providers, including communication of expectations and timelines, assurance that high-quality deliverables are received on time.
  • Manage service provider and consultant contracting process, invoicing and financials.
  • Proactively identify and act on opportunities for cost savings within assigned projects.
  • Manage the planning, operational, and reporting logistics of the GMST and/or other cross-functional meetings, including the planning of appropriate meeting schedules, communication of meeting plans to global team members, facilitation of meetings, distribution of advance-meeting materials, capture of deliverables, distribution of minutes, archival of materials.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the communication with global partners and ability to persuade team members in areas of technical expertise
  • Ensure personal and team compliance with all relevant policies, SOPs, regulations and Codes of Conduct.
  • Responsible for project-specific reporting to Scientific Strategy and Training leadership and Global Medical Head
  • Responsible for technical mentoring and training of less experienced departmental staff
  • Proactively identifies operational challenges within the GMSTs, critically review options, and assimilate strategies to provide solutions

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in science (preferably in life science) or business-related field
  • 5 years of project management experience preferably in the area of medical affairs or clinical development within the pharmaceutical/biomedical industry, including at least 3 years leading projects within the pharmaceutical/biomedical industry
  • 2 years' experience in invoice/budget tracking
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations at local or global level
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience as a project manager leading complex pharmaceutical projects in a multi-disciplinary, global environment
  • Advanced degree, preferably in a life-science related field
  • Experience supervising vendors
  • Demonstrated leadership skills managing matrix teams, influencing outcomes and key project decisions
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with senior management and medical professionals
  • Clinical research experience
  • Fluid use of SharePoint and web conferencing tools.
  • Process improvement experience
  • Project Management Professional certification with PMI
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams and to prioritize operational needs effectively
