Proclinical have a new vacancy at a pharmaceutical company working in research and development of highly effective and innovative medications. This job vacancy is for a Senior Epidemiologist to join their team at their Cambridge offices. The company is one of the industry's most well-known brands and specialises in R&D in 3 major areas; respiratory, oncology and inflammation.
This role will provide Epidemiology expertise in its application to development and post-marketed product activities across the company's portfolio. This role will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of Real World Evidence (RWE) focused projects within R&D as well as supporting relevant Commercialisation activities. The role will contribute directly to shaping the epidemiology and Real World Evidence approach and strategy of the company and generate evidence or provide data analysis to support myriad opportunities within the company's portfolio.
Job Responsibilities:
- Principal expert in Epidemiology supporting all aspects of the business to generate evidence, conduct data analysis and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead development and conduct of Real World Evidence studies at the different stages of the portfolio lifecycle from development through to post-marketing.
- Provide expert advice for the business and external academic and service provider partners to allow the efficient and robust set-up of epidemiology studies
- Provide core epidemiology input into the Company's product project teams, clinical, regulatory and market access teams
- Provide epidemiological expertise to the Clinical Protocol Review Committee (CPRC) for all RWE studies and clinical trials
- Build maintain and leverage networks, within the company, which focus on the use of epidemiological (and biostatistical) expertise to foster continuous high quality and performance
- Utilise experience and knowledge to support, advise and train colleagues within all areas of the business, as appropriate
- Build a robust understanding of the current databases and information sources, and their owners, which provide potential platforms for our Real-World Evidence studies and research plans
- Build maintain and leverage epidemiology networks with external academic and service provider partners nationally and internationally
- Build the reputation of the Company in the conduct of well-designed pharmacoepidemiological research and make a contribution to best practice in the use of RWE data
- Continue to develop own technical and professional standards
Skills and Requirements:
- Educated to PhD level in the area of epidemiology (or MSc level with substantial relevant experience)
- Experience working with observational studies, including data from claims databases, patient registries and EHRs.
- Experience negotiating with regulators and other stakeholders on the innovative and practical application of epidemiological data in drug development
- Record of previous publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Proven ability to execute and deliver complex RWE studies, including study design, protocol writing, timeline management, management of CROs and report completion.
- Proven ability to work and be influential in a matrix-based company
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and a high degree of self-motivation, initiative and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate within highly complex organisations, across functions and geographies.
- Experience of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Fluency in spoken and written English
