Senior Director Medical Affairs - Human Genetics

Proclinical is seeking a Senior Medical Director for a world leading genetics company, to be based in North-eat Germany on a permanent basis. This Senior Medical Director will take responsibility for our client's medical and bioinformatic evaluation of human genetic data coming out of their high-volume genetics core laboratory, as well as transforming such data and evaluation into actionable medical reports.

Job Responsibilities:

• development and implementation of the objectives, strategy and implementation of all our human genetics work, and for leading and developing a group of highly trained medical human geneticists, bioinformatic scientists and medically trained biologists, all involved in creating highest quality medical reports.
• Key partnerships for this core function include our Chief Scientific Officer, the clinical diagnostics marketing and sales function, Bioinformatics and artificial intelligence R&D, our high-volume sequencing and genetic testing labs, the Biomarker discovery and Clinical Study Groups as well as our business development team for pharmaceutical collaborations.
• Current efforts are focused on the application and analysis of next-gen sequencing in medical diagnostic processes and larger research cohorts.
• The Director of Human Genetics also will be responsible for identifying and advancing novel high priority projects that enhance the role of human genetics in the global diagnostic processes. For example, targeted and genome-wide phenotype screens, strategies to understand function and enrich for functional variants and in vitro testing strategies.
• In addition to guiding the medical activities of the Department, the Senior Director will have a high visibility platform and time and resources to pursue research interests at the forefront of human genetics in a collaborative, interactive environment of our client.

Skills and Requirements:

• MD, MD/PhD, with 10+ years of human genetics clinical practice and research leadership experience, preferably on projects that advance the interpretation of next generation sequencing data and its relevance for transforming into actionable patient treatment decisions.
• The ideal candidate will be an internationally recognized leader in the field of human genetics, with expertise also with genetic diagnostic processes and service workflows. Experience with biomarker interpretation is a plus.
• The candidate must also demonstrate evidence of successful strategic leadership through positions of increasing responsibility and leadership.
• Excellent communication skills and evidence of success in complex, multidisciplinary and multi-cultural environments is required.
• The ideal candidate will have the ability to successfully lead, recruit and cultivate a high achieving organization that attracts, develops, motivates and retains key talent.
