Proclinical is working with a global specialty-driven pharmaceutical company that is seeking a Scientific Information Associate to be based in Berkshire on a contract basis. The Scientific Services Associate will be working on a Biomedical literature database for a defined therapy area. The role will review the automatic literature feeds coming in to the database, assessing the publications for relevance to the company and the therapy area by reviewing the abstracts or full text articles as relevant and required. Relevant articles are indexed and assigned to be visible in the literature database and key words are added; and where possible access to the full text article is set (through a link or by attaching the article).

The Scientific Services Associate will assign key articles to be published in the weekly newsletter and will be responsible for the dissemination of the newsletter. The role may also support the business with accessing specific publications on request.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Indexing relevant scientific articles in the Company Biomedical literature database
  • Reviewing articles imported on the automated feed for relevance to the company and the therapy area
  • Indexing the article and adding key words
  • Attaching or linking the full text article if available
  • Checking and capturing copyright
  • Identify and assign articles for the weekly newsletter
  • Identify and assign key scientific articles for the weekly newsletter
  • Disseminate the newsletter to all subscribers
  • Supporting users with trouble shooting
  • Ordering scientific articles from Reprints Desk
  • When provided with the exact citation

Skills and Requirements:

  • A Life Science or relevant library or information services degree
  • A working knowledge of drug mechanisms of action, pharmacological classifications, disease classification is desired
  • Languages: English (excellent oral & written) mandatory. Others an advantage.
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrates good time management skills and is self-motivated
  • Good understanding of written biomedical English
