A historic pharmaceutical company is seeking to recruit a RWE Affiliate Scientist. The organisation creates informative and engaging online communities that share information in meaningful ways. The RWE Affiliate Scientist will contribute to the compendium of evidence in support of demonstrating the value of the company's products (across all business units) by ensuring the RWE customer needs are met in a timely and credible manner. They will develop the local RWE strategy and ensure that the appropriate RWE solutions are executed within their hub. The development of the RWE strategies are conducted in close collaboration with the affiliate cross-functional brand teams and should be aligned with the global brand strategy. Furthermore, the RWE Affiliate Scientist will provide scientific expertise and effective project oversight to ensure the successful fulfilment of the local RWE projects and studies.

This role can be based in either the UK in the company's Basingstoke offices or the Nordics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining a broad network with multiple customers and partners within the pharmaceutical industry relevant to RWE.
  • Maintaining awareness of significant developments in the RWE policy environment, including current RWE methodologies and applications.
  • Engaging RWD sources order to provide relevant evidence to meet brand and customer needs.
  • Participating in shared learning opportunities to effectively share knowledge and experience (both positive and negative) on RWE generation across geographic, functional and therapeutic areas.
  • Identifying appropriate local RWE solutions for successful market access or price negotiations of prioritized brands partners with the right functions (e.g. global/local PRA, local Health Outcomes/HTA group, GPORWE, PRA, market research, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Global Product Safety, etc) to ensure local RWE strategies are aligned with local brand teams and global/regional strategy.
  • Ensuring that local RWE needs for pre and post launch company portfolio (post-launch needs will be prioritised; however, input will be given on pre-launch RWE as needed) are captured in affiliate RWE plans and shared with relevant business partners by working closely with GPORWE International and other relevant functions.
  • Linking RWE scientific expertise with business unit knowledge to influence and effect cross-functional initiatives within the Principles of Medical Research framework.
  • Uniting people, processes, and resources to take action towards a common goal.
  • Ensuring increasing internal awareness of the role of RWE.
  • Delivering top RWE priorities in the affiliate identified through comprehensive evidence planning and development of the right scientific methods (in consultations with statistics, EXPERT, medical, GPS etc).
  • The RWE solutions should be included in the Business Planning and the research should be conducted in conformance with the Principles of Medical Research and stored appropriately (eg. LEO, PANGAEA, etc)
  • Building strategic engagements with third parties for access to external data source / analysis in compliance with company procedures.
  • Partnering with the relevant functions (affiliate Ethics & Compliance, Medical Quality (MQO), procurement, local Legal, etc.) to deliver collaborative RWE research that is compliant and following the company's internal procedures.
  • Leading dissemination of RWE information in appropriate scientific venues via development, preparation, and presentation of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts and effectively communicating with internal partners.
  • Delivering the prioritized RWE research on time and on budget, ensuring study/ project budgets are realistic.
  • Communicating the status of RWE projects to key business partners to keep them informed of project status, budget implications, etc.

Skills and Requirements:

  • D., M.D., or PharmD/Master's degree with relevant experience in an appropriate discipline (e.g. epidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, psychology, statistics, or other relevant sciences) will generally be required. Significant previous training and experience in designing and conducting research and disseminating the results in the areas of epidemiology or health outcomes may substitute for the formal degree requirement.
  • Demonstrable strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a cross-functional environment.
  • Fluency in local language and English.
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally. Travel is estimated to be up to 10%.
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
