A leading pharmaceutical company is currently seeking to employ an Outsourcing Associate to their office in Cambridge. This organisation works across research and development, focusing on highly effective and innovative medications across Emerging Markets. Job Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Company's supplier selection and contract management process across multiple project teams and in one or more R&D business areas (e.g. Clinical Operations).
- Supporting the continuous improvement supplier relationships, processes, and tools to achieve Company objectives and deliver service excellence according to agreed quality, cost, and time parameters.
- Supporting the outsourcing and ongoing contract management of specific projects (e.g. clinical studies).
- Working with senior members of the Outsourcing Team as required and directly with functional representatives to select the most appropriate suppliers, in line with standard process and supplier strategy.
- Managing negotiations and the finalisation of commercially robust contracts that meet business requirements and are compliant with legal and corporate standards.
- Proactively monitoring, responding to, and/or escalating issues relating to supplier delivery performance, capacity, compliance, and corporate/financial status.
- Minimising Company risk, safeguarding delivery, and maintaining strong existing supplier relationships.
- Managing relationships in order to balance the needs of internal customers and external suppliers.
- Suggesting solutions both internally and externally to continuously reduce risk and improving the outsourcing experience in relation to quality, time, and cost.
- Supporting the resolution of sponsor-supplier conflicts to achieve optimal solutions.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of processes and tools so that Company is seen as an attractive partner and 'Sponsor of Choice' to its suppliers.
- Providing support to the cost forecasting and budgeting process, including the mid/year end budget round, as well as the month/year end financial reconciliation and closing process.
- Ensuring that payments, rebates, and final reconciliations are carried out in accordance with contracts and Company guidelines.
- Actively promoting awareness and understanding of customer requirements and team responsibilities and promoting cross functional dialogue.
- Representing the Company externally and proactively seeking internal and external professional networking opportunities, building local and global industry awareness, and supporting the Company in developing industry leading sourcing and supplier management strategy and process.
- Committing to the management of own personal development in order to continuously improve self and the contribution to the organisation.
- Proactively recommending options for continuous improvement and development of department systems and processes; supporting solution implementation as required.
- Undertaking any other reasonable activities as required by your line manager or Director of Outsourcing.
Skills and Requirements:
- University degree level or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of pharmaceutical contracts and outsourcing.
- Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the drug development sourcing process (RFI, RFP, bid defence meetings and related process steps).
- Experience in rate analysis and costing structures (fixed fee, unit pricing, etc.).
- Previous experience in CRO environment in proposal development, procurement or clinical operations.
- Experience in contracting and sourcing best practices, and industry marketplace (CROs, Central Labs, IVRS, etc.).
- Expertise in budgets and/or financial analysis.
- Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
- Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
