Proclinical is advertising a vacancy for a Medical Information Specialist position with one of the pharmaceutical industry's most prestigious organisations. This internationally renowned company is known for its historic presence and work across multiple therapy areas, including cardiovascular, neurology, and immunology.

The Medical Information Specialist (MIS) will research and prepare responses for medical inquiries, as well as interfacing with and supporting Business Units Product/Therapeutic Teams and Global colleagues by providing medical information. Finally, they will perform an analysis of inquiry trends to support departmental and company objectives. This is a contract position based in Surrey.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serving as the subject matter expert for MI on responsible product(s).
  • Exhibiting broad knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas and a solid understanding of pertinent disease states.
  • Handling escalated MI inquiries from various sources.
  • Increasing awareness of MI function with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Aligning with Global counterparts to ensure an open exchange of product information, business intelligence and best practices, and participating in cross-border projects.
  • Analysing inquiry data to identify trends and communicating salient points to the Product/Therapeutic Teams, in-Country Medical Directors, and/or local Business Units.
  • Acting as Regional Medical Information contact point for local issues (such as stock outs or local press releases) and ensuring alignment with medical communications.
  • Creating and maintaining MI documents by ensuring that responses are medically and scientifically accurate, timely, balanced, and meet customer needs.
  • Ensuring the alignment of response documents to local, regional, and global labelling and licensing for all the countries the company supports.
  • Proactively seeking continuous improvement in MI processes and responses
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders where applicable to ensure MI responses are appropriately aligned within the scope of MI and company Medical Reviews and approving MI documents completed by others when appropriate.
  • Ensuring that affiliated contact centres have the necessary training and resources to appropriately meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Maintaining a constant interaction with the contact centres for training, updating, and for supporting them in handling issues that might occur locally.
  • Collaborating with the Brand and Medical Teams to facilitate the development and maintenance of formulary-related documents in support of improving access to managed care formularies and their distribution through the call centres.
  • Participating as a member and MI resource on Business Units Product/Therapeutic Team(s).
  • Representing the company by providing live MI support at scientific conventions/congresses.
  • Serving as the lead for coordinating the MI function at scientific conventions/congresses.
  • Maintaining compliance with corporate and departmental trainings, standard operating procedures, and implementation guidelines.
  • Providing an MI perspective on the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and other procedural documents as necessary.
  • Participating in and/or leading Information Knowledge Centre projects, as required.
  • Possibly acting as Country Relationship Managers (CRMs), e.g., liaising with the relevant Country Medical Council(s) and/or different local departments (Medical, Customer Service, Regulatory, Legal)
  • Researching and responding to inquiries received via phone, email, internet or mail Document the inquiry and response accurately and completely according to relevant WI/SOP, and regulatory guidelines
  • Identifying and recording, or triaging to responsible designee, adverse events and product quality complaints, as well as processing fulfilment.
  • Exhibiting broad knowledge of assigned therapeutic area and a solid understanding of pertinent disease state(s).

Skills and Requirements:

  • A university degree in Life Sciences, with PharmD, BS in Pharmacy, or MD/DO being strongly preferred. Degrees from other medical disciplines will also be considered.
  • 1-3 years of medical information experience preferred.
  • Pertinent industry-related experience and/or post-graduate specialty/residency desirable.
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
  • Mid-Senior Level.
