Proclinical is working with a leading sourcing, distribution and management of pharmaceutical supplies, that is seeking an International Procurement Specialist to be based in Leicester on a permanent basis. This Procurement Specialist will be responsible for supporting all facets of procurement of commercial medications and related clinical supply projects, especially outside of the US. Major areas include Project Management, Procurement and working with Operations to coordinate logistics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Request pricing and other information from manufacturers and suppliers
  • Manage enquiries and orders spreadsheet updating timelines and other information as needed
  • Place orders with manufacturers and suppliers as per direction from Director, International Supply Services, Managing Director and/or appropriate internal Project Managers
  • Ensure all requirements are clearly communicated to supplier/manufacturer to ensure customer specifications are met
  • Proactively follow up on purchase orders with suppliers/manufacturers prior to ship date
  • Confirm expected ship dates
  • Keep accurate notes on communications from suppliers/manufacturers
  • Track inbound orders where needed
  • Confirm storage conditions (temperature, hazard, etc.) prior to shipment
  • Ensure Operations is informed of all information needed to ensure timely and accurate pickup of products
  • Communicate logistics requirements to manufacturers and suppliers as needed as per direction from Operations or other departments
  • Act as a liaison between manufacturers and suppliers and internal project managers
  • Provide suggestions on how to improve procurement related processes to add value to the company
  • Manage return of product and ensure credits are received in expected time frame
  • Manage any recalled material to make sure it's returned to vendors or manufacturers and credits are received. Communicate with QA and other departments to make sure all are properly updated
  • Management of suppliers to ensure performance in line with company expectations and develop clear view of supplier capability in terms of product access
  • Investigate potential new sources for supply including manufacturers and suppliers
  • Additional tasks as requested by Director, International Supply Services or Managing Director

Skills and Requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent professional procurement qualification and relevant business experience required.
  • Experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry desirable.
  • Communication, Organizational skills, Team player, Project Management, Planning, Conflict Resolution, Multi-Tasking, and Innovative.
  • Competent computer skills: Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Email, Lotus Notes, etc.
