Proclinical is currently recruiting for a company specialising in medical devices regarding oncology and tumour treatment solutions. This exciting new position is a permanent, full-time role that will involve front-line responsibility for installations and diagnostic services, as well as providing reparative and preventative maintenance-based visits. This role is located in the Rhône Alpes region of France.

The successful candidate must have a proven ability to diagnose and resolve problems on highly sophisticated software, electronic and mechanical robotic devices at clinical sites and major hospital locations. Crucially, applicants must be able to work independently and have effective communication skills.

As part of this job's requirements, weekends may occasionally be part of a normal work schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing installation, repairs and maintenance for oncological systems in local Rhône Alpes customer sites, with occasional services being provided in both greater Europe and global locations. These services may be provided on-site or remotely, depending on case-to-case requirements.
  • Providing quality customer service through timely response calls, clear and effective communication, and efficient repair/maintenance activities. This includes utilising optimization and prioritising urgent customer requests.
  • Accurately documenting work activities through a customer management software program, providing appropriate citations of the product service history for Device History File records. This also includes assisting in the development of service documentation.
  • Managing and completing timesheets and expense reports incurred during customer field service.
  • Updating and maintaining inventory, managing the return of replaced parts that are required to be returned to the client's stock for processing.
  • Assisting in the identification and development of Field Support tools and test equipment.
  • Assist in the training of further Customer Support staff and customer on site personnel regarding maintenance and service activities, as required.
  • Maintain company vehicle (if provided) in accordance with company fleet vehicle policy, including safe operations, vehicle cleanliness and vehicle maintenance.
  • Providing feedback through a customer service group for service related product improvements that could improve Mean Time to Access (MTTA) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), or improvements in Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
  • Assisting in the development, documentation and testing of service tools and design updates to the product.
  • Supporting project team activities, attending team meetings, representing Field Service requirements and providing documentation as needed. This also includes coordination with other engineers, scientists, subcontractors and consultants.
  • Ensure that safety requirements and quality considerations are pro-actively addressed and implemented in the design of the product.
  • Communicating directly with corporate or directly addressing qualities issues raised by customers in a timely fashion.
  • Supporting the company quality system and Safety and Health Program by following and mentoring other on company procedures.
  • The applicant must be capable of routinely lifting and/or moving physical inventory, tools and test equipment, office supplies, or stored records, weighing up to 35kg.
  • The applicant must occasionally move or transport physical inventory weighing up to 680 kilos utilizing lifting/moving devises such as jib cranes, boom cranes, lifting fixtures, hand dollies and equipment dollies.
  • The applicant will occasionally be required to climb ladders, kneel, or crouch as required during servicing of equipment.
  • Must be comfortable with extensive travel (50% travel time), occasionally on short notice. On rare occasions, the applicant may be away for multiple weeks and may be asked to travel internationally.

Skills and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics. Other qualifications with significant related work experience may also be considered, I.E. military technical training, a BS in electronics, Electro- Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering Technology, AS in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering Technology). A basic understanding of medical physics is desirable.
  • At least 3 years of field support, engineering or manufacturing experience with high technology electrical/electronic products. Prior work experience with a medical device manufacturer would be a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment.
  • Good H/W and S/W computer skills, including network knowledge and the use of standard office software programs. This includes spreadsheet, word processing and email applications. An ability to quickly learn to use new software tools is desirable.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, with a good driving record.
  • Fluent reading, writing and communication skills in both French and English.
  • Experience with basic administration through Windows-based computer hardware, software and networking would be an advantage.
