Proclinical is seeking a Data Business Analyst to be based in London on a contract basis. This role is situated in a new Data Requirement Conversion team within the Enterprise Performance Framework Project, which will translate high-level information requests from stakeholders into detailed data requirements and specifications that can be implemented by service developers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build understanding of the Enterprise Performance Framework and information requirements.
  • Support existing work to gather and prioritise information requirements across HMCTS as necessary, liaising with business owners, company analysts and external academics/researchers.
  • Engage with service owners, business analysts and other Subject Matter Experts to gain an understanding of the existing data and opportunities for collecting data provided by source systems.
  • Build understanding of the data architecture of the source systems to identify opportunities and challenges relating to the capture of data.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and technical stakeholders to understand potential methods for collecting data, and the pros and cons of different approaches, highlighting any trade-offs in information collected and cost.
  • Provide feedback to the requirements processes about alternative options for meeting the need.
  • Work with the user experience team to gain insight into user behaviour, to help understand and mitigate the impact of data collection on user experience.
  • Work with service owners and developers to build practical data specifications, and track implementation across a portfolio of specifications.
  • Provide advice about how the data should be used and identify & develop appropriate tools and processes for managing the data into the future (e.g. data dictionaries and requirement backlogs).

Skills and Requirements:

  • Must have experience working in BI / MI / analytics environment - understanding links between broad KPI-type requirements down to data specification.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, be open and approachable, and be able to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must be able to engage with technical system owners to understand and develop system architecture, including documenting and expressing specifications in a way that facilitates implementation of data requirements.
  • Must have experience working with relational databases, SQL and NoSQL databases, and good understanding of data formats and structures.
  • Must be able to produce high quality documentation and reference material (e.g. tables) that illuminate complex information for a general audience.
