This Communications Manager job is an exciting opportunity to join one of the top 10 global pharmaceutical companies in their Communications team. This leading Swiss pharmaceutical company are currently looking to hire a Communications Manager to be based at their site in Basel. The company employ over 100,000 professionals and have operations in more than 140 countries worldwide.

This Communications Manager is responsible for project management, coordination, and maximization of outputs for a team that includes remote and part-time members. Drive organizational excellence for the ophthalmology communications and advocacy team by keeping individual contributors connected to each other and on track against delivery of product launch milestones and other targets. In addition to designing project scopes, managing project workstreams, designing meeting agendas, attending and summarizing meetings for the team and dealing with follow-up tasks and actions of meetings, the project coordinator will identify points of connection and efficiencies within the core team as well as the broader PC&PA function. Requires operational/project management expertise, stakeholder management experience, and interest/skill in translating strategic priorities into action.

Job Responsibilties:

  • Project management: develop and manage timelines and action plans for major priority projects related to product launches and/or reputation building
  • Team coordination: Act as liaison to ensure that team members, including remote and part-time contributors, stay connected to each other and on track with shared goals and deadlines; identify potential synergies
  • Stakeholder management: Help prepare comms & advocacy updates for franchise leadership teams and executives
  • Global/local liaison: Provide regular updates/guidance and solicit input from, CPOs comms leads on upcoming milestones and issues
  • Budgeting and financials: Prepare and/or review budgets and SOWs; coordinate financial reporting for quarterly earnings, 20-F, IFR, etc.
  • Media and issues manage support: Field general media enquiries, coordinate responses to issues as appropriate, keep CommsSource up to date, assist with press release reviews and approvals as needed
  • Digital and social media support: Prepare and submit web and social media content requests, manage reviews and approvals, assist with social listening and content performance measurement using Social Studio
  • Schedule, manage and drive the agenda for team meetings and calls; manage misc. customer service requests; etc.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Education (minimum/desirable):
  • University Degree (Marketing, Journalism, Business or English) or recognized public relations qualification
  • Fluent English (oral/written)
  • German or French a plus
  • Commercial training (e.g. Swiss Association of Commercial Employees, business school) or equivalent (e.g. other vocational qualification, but must have excellent administrative skills/experience)
  • Experience as "Administrative Expert and relevant additional career training
  • Excellent IT, MS office skills (advanced PPT skills big plus)
  • Able to work independently and autonomously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • 5 - 10 years previous experience in Project Management
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
