An international pharmaceutical company are currently recruiting a Communications Lead. The Communications Lead will play an integral role within the communications team, helping to build and maintain a dynamic, innovative, and proactive core business function. This role is key in supporting business objectives, creating value & delivering results. They will also be expected to input indirectly into operational strategy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Building brand recognition and awareness through developing and executing strategies aligned to corporate positioning and branding, to enhance the company's corporate visibility and reputation, helping to promote the company as a preferred business partner and attractive employer.
  • Providing valuable strategic communications support to the brand team and execute subsequent tactics with KPIs.
  • Raising visibility of clinical and regulatory milestones
  • Managing relationships with patient advocacy groups
  • Earning a seat at the table of senior brand team leadership teams
  • Mapping, building, maintaining, and enhancing connectivity and strong relationships with top tier media and industry commentators/analysts; acting as a key corporate contact for journalists.
  • Leading in establishing and maintaining strong relationships to key corporate stakeholders, professional organisations, advocacy groups, and other third parties (local community, golden triangle, national, European, global) to deliver outputs that support the business and its values.
  • Providing communications support to the Director of Communications, as necessary.
  • Building and maintaining a strong and positive network of key internal stakeholders throughout the company's network of independent associated companies (IACs) in Europe, as well as other regions (US, Canada, Emerging Markets).
  • Providing support and counsel, ensuring alignment, coordination, and connectivity.
  • Facilitating engagement, collaboration, sharing of best practices and up-skilling / professional development.
  • Working closely with IACs to help build and develop communications capabilities and offerings, and to coordinate activities to deliver corporate tactics, tools and programmes for local use
  • Anticipating, preparing for, mitigating, and managing issues in collaboration with Director of Corporate Communications, through monitoring of the external environment, development of efficient processes and tools, and representation on crisis management teams as necessary.
  • Ensuring operational excellence, creation of value and delivery of exemplary, impactful, compliant and measurable results. Evaluate the success and impact of communications activities, and develop appropriate metrics
  • Appointing and managing agencies, sub-contractors, and third-party suppliers effectively to produce high-quality results, on-time execution, and cost-effective delivery.
  • Assessing ongoing performances and managing budgets appropriately.
  • Effectively budgeting management as required.
  • Tracking trends and remaining up to date with the latest advances in the field of communications and introduce innovative ideas and creative concepts back into the business.
  • Ensuring all activities are ethical and compliant.
  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of the relevant Codes of Practice (e.g. ABPI, EFPIA) and industry regulations.
  • Developing and successfully championing the uptake of key communications guidelines and standard operating processes (SOPs), as required.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level (science qualification, journalism, communications/PR); higher qualification a plus.
  • Proficient understanding of the international pharmaceutical and biotech/healthcare market and environment, with strong external networks.
  • Experience of Pharma brand communications with proven results of successful campaigns
  • Ability to build affinity with business teams and proven track record of providing senior strategic communications counsel to brand teams.
  • Solid knowledge of media and social media with proven track record of successful campaigns.
  • Experience of a spokesperson role.
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory environment and of clinical trial processes.
  • Extensive prior and proven expertise in delivering strategic international healthcare communications programmes, operating at a senior level in strategic corporate communications.
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
