A vacancy has arisen for a Biology Principle Scientist with an innovative pharmaceutical enterprise in Shanghai. The company, which commercialises life science research, is committed to the development of therapeutic monoclonal antibody and small molecule drugs and prides itself on having several research projects currently in the preclinical stage that own their rights of intellectual property. This vacancy is an exciting opportunity to work with a company whose core R&D and management team members are composed of senior executives and scientists from the United States and China, with extensive experience in world-class biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and leading internal biology team (biologics) to deliver a strong drug candidate pipeline.
  • Providing scientific and technical support in antibody drug discovery to internal colleagues and external collaborators/CROs.
  • Performing experimental work in antibody drug discovery, including phage display antibody screening, antibody engineering and characterization, hit to lead optimization, and in vitro and in vivo pharmacological assays.
  • Working closely with cross functional teams to ensure productive collaborations.
  • Participating in and presenting experimental results at internal project review meetings, scientific symposia, and other educational programs, as well as scientific conferences.
  • Working closely with senior management team for people development and resource allocation.

Skills and Requirements:

  • D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years drug discovery experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Hands-on expertise in antibody drug discovery research including, but not limited to, phage display screening, antibody engineering (molecular biology and protein purification), as well as various antibody characterization assays (ELISA, Western, FACS, Biacore, and other cellular functional assays).
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communication, presentation, persuasion, and influence.
  • Good organisational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, such as MS Office.
