A worldwide biotechnology company situated in Berkshire and operating in over 70 markets worldwide is looking for a Associate Director, Business Operations Middle East North Africa. The company specialises in neurological conditions and puts a great emphasis on teamwork and delivering biological products.
This role is responsible for supporting the SMA EU+ IPM team headquartered in Zug with creating and executing the SMA IPM launch strategy and partner footprint to address the tremendous unmet need in the MENA ++ region as quickly as possible. (++This region encompasses Middle East North Africa as well as Greece, Cyprus and Iceland).
Job Responsibilties:
- Independently work with the company's local MENA ++ distributor partners and EU+ SMA functional leads (e.g. medical, marketing, market access, etc.) to provide relevant SMA content, training programs and best practice sharing to optimize performance.
- Independently, lead the set up and implementation of compliant expanded access programs in collaboration with Medical and with Distributor partners.
- Take a leadership role in supporting the Senior Director Regional SMA Lead IPM and IPM MENA++ Market Access Lead in developing innovative solutions and business cases to establish Named Patient Sales in as many markets as possible as quickly as possible in response to HCP requests and in accordance with local regulations.
- Support the Senior Director SMA IPM Regional Lead in (i) preparing and leading a structured process to evaluate and select the optimal long-term commercialization partners for SMA across the MENA region.; (ii) reviewing the business cases with the short-listed partners; (iii) negotiating the Distribution Agreements and executing Due Diligence and preparing robust compliant commercialization agreements (iv) training the new Partners SMA teams
- Ensure contracts and legal documentation are in place to build a strong interface and collaborative compliant working relationships with our partners. Work with the EU+ IPM team to conduct research and analyses of existing partners to determine performance and tie to compensation.

- Independently as required work with key cross functional EU+ International HQ personnel, the new IPM supply chain coordinator to ensure the end to end process for delivering the product to the customer is in place for pre-registration and post registration sales.
- Independently lead and collaborate with IPM Finance, Regional SMA decision support, IPM SMA Functional Leads, Regional SMA functional leads and MENA partners timely and accurate assessments of performance, tracking and management of budget and preparation of all critical financial tracking and reporting processes for "F's", AOP and Long-Range Forecasting and Planning.
Skills and Requirements:
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical/health care sales / commercial experience and successful track record in commercial/ business operations management (ideally also decision-analytics).
- A solid understanding of the multi-faceted aspects surrounding operational launch readiness with third party International distributor partners
- Deep knowledge of MENA markets and working with distributors
- Experience in field work and leading complex multi-stakeholder workstreams/projects with ambiguous outcomes.
- Distinctive analytical capabilities and strong project management mindset
- Ability for interdisciplinary/team work and international cooperation
- Ability to work independently and autonomously and with distance management to lead and manage projects through to the end
- Good power point skills and presentation skills
- Fluent in spoken and written English, fluent Arabic would be an asset
- Education
- University degree or MBA strongly preferred, preferably in the sciences
